Our First House Before/Afters

Our first house is currently on the market, so I thought I'd share some before and afters of our house. We loved this house, but we are wanting to be in a better school zone before Hailey starts Kindergarten in the fall. So, someone come make us an offer!

Well there you have it! I am very happy with what we've done, and can't wait to more updating on a new house! Speaking of another house, we have an offer on one, and should hear something soon! Yippee!

What a steal of a DEAL!!- Computer Nook

Here is our new little computer nook. We used to have our desktop computer in our third bedroom. The problem was we never used it in there. So, we decided that we should move it into the kitchen area where it would be more convenient.

Problem #1: we didn't have a nice desk to put it on.

Solution: Find a cute simple white desk from Ikea on Craigslist. I wanted a white desk to match my new white cabinets.

Problem #2: Ugly hunk of junk 15" computer monitor

Solution: a new flat screen 22" monitor.

Doesn't it look wonderful? We found the monitor on clearance at Target. It was originally $160, but we got it for about $50. I was so excited!

Now, I have all the important calendars and information within arms reach of the computer (Look on the fridge to the left of the computer).

A New Hobby

When I found this blog, I instantly fell in love! Ana is the creative genius behind Knock Off Wood. She designs furniture plans for the true DIYer. Her plans not only Knock-Off stores like Pottery Barn and Land of Nod, but they completely knock them out! Go visit her blog and take a look yourself.

For my first building project, I wanted something simple. I have been on the hunt for a nice inexpensive entry table for some time now. When she posted these plans for the "Easiest, Rustic, Modern Console Table Ever" I knew this was my answer. So, I headed off to Home Depot and bought the lumber and had them cut it to size.

Then, my husband and I built the table from Ana's plans and added a shelf for extra storage space. Here it is after being built. It still needs paint.

Then I sanded and painted. It took two coats of paint.

Here is the table with a lovely model.

DONE!!

I am so excited it! I turned out better than I thought it would. It was so easy to build! I can't wait to start on more building projects. Maybe a table? a bed? entertainment center? cubbies? Oh the possibilities are endless. And she posts new plans just about everyday!!

Kitchen Makeover: Part II- Painting the Countertops

If you remember in a previous post we took my kitchen looking like this:

After I had my cabinets painted and looking MUCH better. It was time to tackle the countertops!!

First, I painted all surfaces and edges of the countertops using Glidden Gripper Primer in Grey. (Notice how nasty the original counter look in this picture)

Then, I covered all walls, cabinets, and sinks that would be exposed to the spray paint.

I used Valspar Stone spray paint (from Michaels) and sprayed about 2 coats on all surfaces of the countertop.

It then looked like this:

I let the spray paint dry overnight.

Next I used Envirotex Lite (from Michaels- using 50% off coupons) and covered the countertops with a thick layer.

I let it dry for 72 hours without putting anything on the countertop.

Kitchen Makeover: Part I- Painting the Cabinets

Alright, here is the LONG overdue kitchen makeover post, beginning with the kitchen cabinets. When we bought our house the kitchen looked like this (it hurts my eyes just to look at it):

Note the lovely wood paneling and wallpaper pictured below....

We removed the wallpaper and painted the walls the day we moved in. Which turned into this (yes, I know... horrible picture)...

Yes, better.... but still completely horrible. So, I finally decided to paint the cabinets (best decision ever). Here are some photos during the makeover:

There was not a dishwasher in the house when we moved in. In order to put one in, we moved the fridge to the opposite wall. The dishwasher is in the fridge's old location. We bought a cheap peice of countertop at the habitat home store, and cut it to fit. It obviously doesn't match, but it was fine temporarily....

Warmer weather that is.....

We had beautiful upper 60 degree weather last weekend. Unfortunately, Mike had to work, so Hailey and I spent Saturday going to several consignment sales. Then we enjoyed a treat at Sweet CeCe's. YUMMO! Sunday after church we went to a Stone Soup lunch at our church. After that, we spent the afternoon at the park. You can tell in these pictures that the weather was fabulous!

Valentine's Day Card

Handmade Princess Pillow

LOOK! I made that pillow!! I am so proud. I am definitely NOT an exprienced seamstress, but I had bought some princess fabric a while back to make Hailey something and hadn't used it yet. I saw a castle sencil at Micheal's and thought... that would be really cute on a throw pillow. First, I stenciled the castle onto freezer paper. Then I cut out each little peice.Next, I ironed the freezer paper onto the fabric, then I used spray paint to paint the fabric purple. Then, I let the paint dry and removed the freezer paper. Look how cute the castle looks!! I love it and so does Hailey! Then I just sewed the pillow, stuffed and closed it.

This was a really simple, cheap, easy, and cute project! I can't wait to make more pillows for our living room!

Ready to Nap

I just had to document this day in history. Today, at 10 AM, Hailey asks to eat lunch and take a nap. WOW! She never wants to take a nap, and today, 2 hours early, she is asking for it! She must have been exhasted. And, yes, I let her eat lunch at at 10AM and nap. What mother wouldn't? That is all.

Making Cookies....

My great aunt and uncle gave me this Cookie Factory for Christmas in 1993. My mom just found it buried away and gave it to me. So, Hailey and I decided to try it.

Luckily, we had Nestle Sugar Cookie dough on hand!! :)

The Cookie Factory comes with a "normal" flat cookie pan and cookie molds. Hailey wanted to make animal cookies. The molded pans are so much easier and faster than rolling out the dough and using cookie cutters. You just press the dough onto the mold.

Then you put the pan in the Cookie Factory. It only takes about 6 minutes and the cookies are baked perfectly!!

We made some heart cookies and then Hailey decorated them (with an INSANE amount of sprinkles...).

They my not look very cute, but they sure tasted good!

An Interview

..... with my four year old daughter. I saw someone else do this interview about money with thier child and thought it would be funny to see what Hailey's answers were.

a whole bunch

put in the bank and then buy a house at home depot or something like that

Let me explain some of her answers....

As you probably noticed she mentioned buying a house several times. Mike and I have been talking to her about how important it is to save money instead of spending it all. He has been explaining to her that he saved most of his money when he was younger, and was able to buy our house because of how much he had saved. He also explained to her that if she saves her money, she can buy her own house when she gets older. So, for now at least, this is her plan: save her money to buy a house.

The other thing she mentioned that needs some background explanation is home depot. We have just finished turning part of our basement into a room (thanks PawPaw), and we got all the supplies at Home Depot. So... therefore, to buy a house you buy the materials at Home Depot. She is one smart cookie! :)

Oh, and I loved her answer to number five! She was dead on! :)

I will try and post interviews with Hailey again. I love hearing her answers!

First Snow of 2010

Today marked the first snowfall for us of 2010. The forecast predicted we would get around 2 to 4 inches of snow early morning last night. However, at 7:00 AM there was still no snow in sight. Hailey learned at school on Wednesday that wearing her jammies inside out would make the snow come. So, she was very diappointed that there was no white stuff on the ground. Later in the morning, the snow finally decided to show up. It wasn't enough snow to cover the grass, but there was a pretty good coating on the driveway. So, this afternoon Hailey and I bundled
up and battled the cold to have a little fun in the half inch of snow we got. She had SO much fun making snow angels and making a "snow castle" (a small pile of snow).

Making snow angels was by far her favorite thing to do! Last year, she was too afraid of the cold snow to make them so I was excited that she like making them this year! The picture above is Hailey making a snow angel next to the one I made.

Note in the picture below that Hailey is wearing goggles!!!! When we were getting ready to go outside Haileygoes and gets her goggles. She tells me she needs her goggles so that the snow doesn't get in her eyes. She is such a silly girl....

Here she is trying to throw a snow ball at me. Unfortunately (for her, good for me) the snow was too powdery to make any good snow balls.

Happy Birthday Sweet Princess! Today is the day you turned FOUR! I can hardly believe it has been four years since you were born!

Here are a few things we know about you:

1) You are a girl of MANY words and always have an opinion.

2) You love school, and always ask when you get to go again!

3) You don't have a favorite color. When asked, you list the colors of the rainbow.

4) You have an incredible imagination.

5) You are VERY stubborn. I hope that will serve you well in the long run!

6) Your favorite toys are Barbies, my littlest pet shop, and anything imaginary. :)

7) You make the BEST facial expressions. You have a face for every situation.

8) You have a great memory!

9) You do not like chocolate, but you do like peanut butter cups!

10) You can dress yourself. Sometimes your clothes may be inside out or backwards, but that ok because YOU did it by yourself!

A Charlie Brown ICE Christmas

My wonderful Papa invited us to go to ICE! Mike, Hailey, and I were able to go, along with my mom and brother. This year the theme was A Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles Shultz. Most everything you see in the pictures (except us of course) is made from ICE! It truely is amazing how much detail is put into each and everything. I can only imagine the time it must take to make each item....

Anyway, it was absolutely FREEZING in the the exhibit (to keep the ice from melting) so they give you special blue coats to keep you warm. However, they do NOT provide socks or gloves.... Hailey refused to wear socks, and Mike forgot his gloves, making them BOTH miserable about half way through....

One cool thing about the exhibit is the ice slides. The picture below is a picture of me going down the "kiddie" slide. There was a "big person" slide about twice the size of this one, but we didn't want to wait in the long line.

Below just might be next years Christmas card (oh wait... Hailey wouldn't cooperate and get in the picture... so never mind). But I do think it is a pretty cool picture.

In the very last room is a nativity made completely out of ICE!! It is a great way to end a fantastic exhibit and to remind you the reason for the season!

As I mentioned earlier, Hailey's feet and Mike's hands were freezing. So, after we left, we went straight to the car heater to warm them up!!! (Please ignore the insane amount of junk in the car!)

My Best Friends Wedding

Last weekend was Joy's wedding!! Here is an overview of the wedding festivities for my dear friend Joy. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful and the weather ended up being gorgeous! I am so honored to have been matron of honor! And Hailey sure was a darn cute flower girl! I am so happy for Joy and look forward to getting to know Justin better (even though they live in Ohio now)! Congrats! I love you!

Hailey is going to a birthday party for her friends Thursday and Friday. Instead of buying a present, I wanted to make it. I decided to make them. I made a game of Concentration using pictures from the Little Golden Book: Old McDonald Had a Farm (published 1975). It had a great variety of cute and colorful pictures perfect for this project.

Carson and Thunder

Laura Beth, Diane, and Carson came over the other day to play. Hailey and Diane mainly played in Hailey's room (and made a HUGE mess), but they also wanted to play the Wii Outdoor Challange Game. Here is a picture and video of the girls playing the game.

While the girls were playing, Carson was hanging out on the sofa. Our kitten Thunder was very protective and sat down right beside him. It was very cute!

A Day at the Zoo

Here are some pictures of our most recent trip to the zoo. We go to the zoo ALL the time, so I usually don't bring my camera or take pictures. Hailey's favorite exhibit is the Lorakeets, so I thought I would take some pictures of her feeding the birds.

For dinner tonight Hailey and I made pizza. We decided to put black olives on the pizza because we both LOVE olives. I told Hailey she could eat a few olives and, I left the kitchen for give or take 3 minutes. When I came back in she had an olive on every finger. I just had to take a picture!

First Day of Preschool

Hailey's first day of preschool was Friday!! She was soo excited to move up to the "big kid school" this year!! She has two wonderful teachers who are GREAT!! We are having separation anxiety issues, but hopefully after a few weeks she will be doing better! Here are a few pictures I took before we left for school. Titans vs. Packers

My friend Joy's fiance, Justin, came down from Ohio for a week. While he was here. Joy, Justin, Mike, and I got to go to the Titans preseason game against the Packers. We had a LOT of fun. I just wish the picture of the four of us turned out better! I can't wait until Joy's wedding on October 24th!!!!!!

What a summer

Wow! What a summer we have had! The month of June was pretty low key. I was finishing up my last clinical at MTSU. I finished the first week in July. The weekend after I finished up at MTSU my sweet sweet Grandmama was called to heaven after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March. The week after her memorial Hailey and I left for Camp Monterey. Camp Monterey is a overnight residential girls camp in Monterey, TN. I was at the barn teaching horseback riding all day, while Hailey played with the other young kids with a babysitter. We had so much fun and Hailey is dying to go back! The campers are apart of one of two teams: the Nolichuckies or the Wataugas. I was a Watauga when I was a camper, so Hailey is, by legacy, a Watauga too! The Watauga colors are green and yellow and wear pigtails. Once we got home, Hailey became obsessed with the colors green and yellow and only wants to wear her hair in pigtails. She and I had such a wonderful summer, I hope we will be able to go back next year!! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the summer!

Memorial Day 2009

Memorial Day at the Jones household was very relaxed. Hailey woke me up this morning. We got up and made breakfast for Daddy. Hailey helped me make blueberry pancakes. We had a nice unrushed breakfast. Around here, breakfast is usually fast and not at the same time. It was nice to sit down and spend time together.

After breakfast, we all got ready and headed to Centennial Park to feed the ducks (and geese)! Hailey LOVES feeding the ducks.

There were TONS of baby geese (goslings)! They were so cute, and Hailey loved seeing the babies! The goslings in the picture are only a few of the ones we saw!

After feeding the animals, we went to the beautiful flower garden at the park. This is one of my all time favorite pictures of Hailey an Daddy.

After the park, we came home, ate lunch, and Hailey took a nap. After naptime we made our way over to JJ's (Mike's mom) house to play games and eat dinner! We had a wonderful memorial day being together!

My Handy Husband

For those of you who don't know my husband... he isn't the most handy person in the world (sorry hunny). So you can imagine I was very excited when he said he was going to build a shelf out of 2x4's we had lying around our basement. We have been needing shelving (all our boxes and tools were just all over the floor) down there so it was a great way to use what we had to make something functional. The shelf turned out VERY well and turned out to be a great first solo project for my husband! Way to go!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms!!

I wanted to share a little craft Hailey and I made for our moms, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. Here is what it looks like:

Hailey painted the paper pink, and smiled for the picture. I did the rest! :) I think it turned into a cute little craft! Best of all it is multi functional. It can be used as a magnet and a clip!!

*Note: I laminated it, but you could use cardstock, and I think it would still be study enough! I used hot glue to glue the flower to the craft stick and clothespin!

Getting Paid to Shop

This week at a local Kroger is triple coupon (up to $.99) week. Now, this doesn't happen very often around here so it was VERY exciting for me. I made two runs to that store today. The first one isn't as impressive so I will start with it:

Total of groceries without sales and coupons: $62.38

Total SAVINGS (with sales and coupons): - $36.07

Total after sales and coupons(before tax): $26.31

Plus Tax: + $3.15

TOTAL PAID: $29.46

PERCENTAGE SAVED: 57%

Well, I thought that was good. After getting home and doing more internet coupon searching, I found some FABULOUS coupons. I couldn't wait to go back, so after Hailey was in bed and Mike was home from work off I went again.....

Here is what I bought and what I paid the second go round:

2 Dial Complete- sale$1.49 ea.; used 2 $.50 coupons(tripled) = +$.02 total

2 Mr. Bubbles- $2.89 ea.; used 2 $.50 coupons (tripled)= -$2.78

2 Sesame Street Bubble Bath- clearance $1.55 ea.; used 2 $.50 coupons(tripled)= - $.05

2 Travel Size Listerine- $1.99 ea.; used $.55 coupon(tripled)= -$.68

1 Kroger Shopping Bag- $.99, FREE

Then I had 2 $.75 off any item coupons (tripled)= +$4.50

So in the end Kroger PAID me $.18!!! To me, that is just FABULOUS! I saved 103%!! This was the first time I have ever gotten paid!! WOO HOO! Check out the receipt below:

KFC Coupon Raincheck

An update on the KFC coupon....

Due to an overwhelming response, KFC is not honoring the free KFC meal coupon any more. HOWEVER,

you can take the coupon you printed to any KFC store and they will give you a raincheck for the same deal at a later date.

Here is a link to the KFC website where the president of the company talks about the coupon and rainchecks....

My cousin Katie Beth is home from France for two weeks. Hailey and I were able to go with her to the zoo Friday afternoon. We had a great afternoon. We were able to see all the animals. We even saw the giraffes (Hailey and I normally skip them because they are so far out of the way). Here are a few pictures from the day:

Easter

It has been a LONG time since our last post! I am not going to try to play catch up (although Hailey did turn 3!!), but just start at Easter.

This Easter we had a wonderful time with friends and family. The day starting by going to church. Our friend Ben and his mom joined us at church. After church we ran home and gave Hailey a short nap. We then hurried out to my grandparents house in Donelson for a late lunch and an Easter egg hunt! Hailey and my brother Clayton were the only two "hunters" and they ended up with an insane amount of eggs. After the Egg Hunt we got in several good group shots. Happy Easter!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas seeing family and friends!! It is always so fun to watch Hailey open presents. Last year, she had the most fun unwrapping the gifts, but could care less what was inside. This year, however, she enjoyed seeing what was inside the wrapping. I loved watching her face light up when she really liked it. So cute! On Christmas Day, Mike's dad and brother came over for lunch and to open presents. After that, we went went over to his mom's house and did more presents there. We stayed at his mom's until Hailey's bed time. Then we brought her home and went to bed. The next morning Hailey woke up and came into our room to wake us up (as usual). We then tried to get her excited about going to see what Santa had brought. Well.... she wasn't excited to said, "I don't want Santa. I have enough toys already." Mike and I both were speechless. What almost three year old doesn't want Santa to bring toys?!?! Anyway, once we got into the living room she was excited about all the presents from Santa!! Mike's dad came back over for the morning, and then around lunch time we went to my parents house. We then came back home and let Hailey take a nap before heading to my grandparents house for my family's Christmas. We had a great Christmas at my grandparent's house with family and got home a little after Hailey's bedtime. The Saturday after Christmas we went to Lafayette, TN to visit Mike's grandmother. We had a wonderful visit with her too!

ASHA Convention- Chicago

Every year the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association has a convention. Each year MTSU Communication Disoders students have the option of going. This year the convention was in Chicago, IL. About 20 students in my major made the trip to Chicago. We flew out of Nashville Wednesday night and came back Sunday night. We had a great time while we were in Chicago. We stayed in the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, and my room was upgraded to an executive suite, complete with TWO bathrooms, and a nice sitting area (Our room was twice as large as the regular rooms). We also were given complimentary breakfast, unlimited drinks, complimentary appetizers, cookies, brownies and milk. It was wonderful. Well, anyway, the convention was 3 days and we went in the mornings and, for the most part, we had the afternoons/evenings to enjoy the city. While we didn't get to see all of Chicago, we had a great time, and I am really glad I went!

This year for Halloween Hailey wanted to be a Pumpkin. My mom and I made her pumpkin costume! She had a lot of fun trick or treating although every house she went to she made a point to say, "I don't like chocolate." Poor girl. Maybe someday she will learn what's good for her :)

3-0 VU: Vandy vs Rice

So this past weekend, was the Vandy vs Rice football game. My dad went to Rice and mom my went to Vandy. For the weekend, 5 of my dad's best friends from college came up to visit and to watch the game. They had a bunch of extra tickets so Hailey and I were able to go too. My family was for Vandy except my dad, and my dad and his freinds were for Rice. This was Hailey's first Vanderbilt football game. I was so excited to take her, but also a little nervous. Needless to say, she did wonderfully, and had a lot of fun. She had fun watching the game, and cheering when everyone else did. Abou thalf time, Mike was able to rush over from work to join us for the second half of the game. It was so nice for him to be able to spend time with us at the game. I'm so glad he was able to get off work early! I can't wait to take Hailey to another game.

The Best Place On Earth

Today Kelley, Hailey, and our friend Jane drove to Camp Monterey (an all girls camp) in Monterey, TN. Kelley and Jane used to be campers there, and we decided to drive up for an afternoon visit. First, we went by Camp Country Lad (an all boys camp) to visit my Uncle. While we were there Hailey was able to ride a horse. It's name was Lucky.

Next, we drove the Mennonite General Store where we ran into Pam from camp. The General Store has always been a camp favorite! Next, we made the drive down the Big Hill and into Camp Monterey. We saw Mary Scott in the office, then we ran across Terry and Karen. Next, we found Meagan and Sophie. We went down to the canoeing dock, and tried to persuade Hailey to go canoeing, but I think she was a little uneasy about how the boat moved in the water. Then it was time to free swim. We changing into our bathing suits and went swimming the lake.

After swimming we changed clothes, and saw Keith, the camp director, who invited us to stay for dinner and campfire. So of course we stayed, ate, sang songs, and went to campfire.

Between dinner and campfire Hailey had alot of fun playing tetherball and we finally convinced her to sit in the canoe.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDDADDY!!!

Today we went over to Mimi and Granddaddy's house for Granddaddy's Birthday! We had Pizza, Cake, and Ice Cream. For his birthday we had eye surgery. He had one eye done that day and the other eye done the next week. In the pictures if you look real closely you will notice that he has one lense is popped out of his glasses. Kelley made his birthday cake. In the pictures below notice Hailey's present to him, and the bath and body works soap (he really likes this one scent, which I can't remember the name). Haha!

Jump Zone

Today, Hailey and I went to the Jump Zone with Diane and Laura Beth. The JumpZone is an indoor inflatable 'playground'. It was the second time Hailey had been, and the first time Hailey and Diane had been together. The girls had a great time. They enjoyed climbing and sliding. Hailey's favorite slide was the Fire Truck.

The City Bus

All summer Hailey was been asking to ride the bus. Today we decided to grant her request. My mom, my brother (uncle clayton), Hailey, and myself got on the bus at Lipscomb University on Granny White. We rode the bus all the way downtown where we got off at 6th and Church St. We walked up a few blocks to the Library where Hailey returned some books and got a few more. After the library we decided to go visit Fort Nashborough on the riverfront. My brother is very interested in family history and John Donelson (one of the founding fathers of Nashville) is one of our great great (alot more greats) Uncles (He is also father to Rachel Donelson Jackson, the wife of Andrew Jackson, the president). Clayton was very excited to see the statue of John Donelson and James Robertson (the other founding father) and to see the replica of the fort. We did the self guided tour of the fort and then headed off to lunch at Sabarros. Then we hopped on the bus and headed home.

The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring

Today Hailey and I went with Diane and Laura Beth to the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring in Murfreesboro. The girls had a fabulous time! They 'drove' a fire truck, played with the wooden trains, dug in the rocks like an archaeologist, did pretend play in the play house, 'climbed' a tree, slide down a BIG slide, and much much more. It was fun to watch Hailey and Diane interacting. It is getting to be a lot of fun as they get older and are able to interact and talk to each other more and more.

Hailey's New Room

I have been working on repainting Hailey's room for a few days. It is finally done. We upgraded Hailey from a Toddler bed to a Big girl (full size) bed. She has done REALLY well with it and I think she is sleeping better. Here are a few pictures of her and her bed. I haven't finished decorating, but once I do, I will post more pictures.

BLUE Ice Cream

Today we got to see mom's friend Jane! We hadn't seen her in a LONG time. We met at Maggie Moo's to get some ice cream. Hailey was very excited to get 'blue' ice cream. I was very nervous that she wouldn't like it because she is pretty picky about what she eats. Anyway, I made her try it and she said she liked it. So she got a small scoop of 'blue' (cotton-candy) ice cream with gummy bears (her favorite thing in the whole world). She shared her ice cream with Jane too (how sweet). After ice cream we walked over to the Green Hills Mall. We went to New York & Company and bought some clothes. Hailey tried on some clothes too (see pic below). I bought 2 pairs of pants, a skirt, and a shirt. Jane bought some pants and a shirt. Everything was 70% off!! Superb! Next, it was dinner time, so we walked back over and ate at Baja Fresh. It was a great visit and a wonderful afternoon! We had a great time seeing and catching up with Jane!!

Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July!!! This year our 4th of July was low key. Mike had to work so Hailey and I played with KK a little while. Then in the afternoon we went to Lipscomb University for their celebration. Hailey made a bracelet and a visor. She also slid down the big inflatable slide TWICE!! Once with Granddaddy and once with Mommy. Next, we went over to JJ's house for dinner. MaMac was in town visiting from Lafayette, TN so it was nice for us to be able to see her. Hailey had a good time with MaMac playing with her dollhouse.

On the way back from the beach we were able to stop and see the Knoxville Zoo. We have a membership at the Nashville Zoo so we were able to go to the Knoxville Zoo free!! There were lots of animals that Hailey had never seen before such as bears, lions, rhinos, and gorillas. She had a lot of fun seeing all the animals.

Beach Bum

Friday, June 20th, Kelley, Hailey, and Kelley's friend Kelly (aka. KK) started thier journey to Litchfield Beach in South Carolina (sadly Mike had to work and was not able to go). Hailey was an excellent car rider. We arrived at the beach Sunday afternoon. We stayed in a condo with my parents and grandparents on the Second Row. And my Aunt and her children and grandchildren had a beach house right across the street on the First Row. This is the third year we have been on the beach trip with the WHOLE family. Hailey had so much fun at the beach, she loved digging in the sand, jumping waves in the ocean, and swimming the pool. We went to the beach and pool everyday. It was a great week, but we are happy to be home with Daddy now!

Summer Lovin'

We are having a great summer so far! Let's see.... last Friday we had gymnastics class. Hailey had a lot of fun. She is so excited to go back this week. Also, my dear friend Kristin called from camp Friday night and said they were going to be in town the next day. So Saturday I was able to visit with Kristin and her two boys. Here are some pictures:

We went to the zoo again this morning. We rode the carousel and saw all the animals. We got to hang out with KK and the three kids she was babysitting too. It was a lot of fun.

Tonight we have swimming lessons again. YAY!

This week was full of firsts: Potty training and then yesterday mom decided to convert my crib into a BIG girl bed. I had been using a crib, but Mom said it was time for me use a bigger bed. Here are a few pictures of me in my new bed. I can get in and out of it all by myself.

Today, I did such a good job going potty and didn't have any accidents Mom let me get a tattoo. Here is a picture:

We also went out to dinner after Daddy got off work. We ate at Cracker Barrel. I chose Macaroni and Cheese, and Mommy and Daddy both had pancakes. I don't understand why they had breakfast for dinner. Sounds crazy to me. This is me at Cracker Barrel:

I'm a BIG girl now!

Sunday we said bye to diapers and HELLO panties. Hailey has done so good. Only a few accidents and none so far today!!! YAY! Sunday we went to the store, and Hailey picked out some panties. Her favorites were High School Musical and Elmo. Mommy's favorites were the days of the week with monkeys on the be-hind (see Picture). Hailey is doing so great being a BIG girl. Mommy is so proud.

Hailey is also turning into a little fish (or turtle as she likes to be called). We are members of the Vanderbilt Rec Center, and we are able to go swimming about everyday. She always wants to go and never wants to leave. Next week, we begin swimming lessons. Hailey is so excited!

This Friday we are also starting gymnastics lesson at Harpeth School of Gymnastics. Hailey is excited to do gymnastics too. Harpeth is where mommy took gymnastics when she was a kid.

Yesterday we met our friends Diane and Laura Beth for a spur of the moment lunch playdate. The girls had a lot of fun until, as Hailey put it, "orange boy roar like tiger". Apparently a little boy wearing an orange shirt "roared" at them. This brought Hailey to tears, and Diane began crying because Hailey was crying. Anyway.... they kept playing, but anytime a boy got close to Hailey she started crying and ran out of the play structure.

This morning we met MiMi and Uncle Clayton at the downtown library for Storytime. Hailey loves storytime. There is music, puppets, Mary Mary, the Professor, and of course a story. After storytime, we walked down the street and ate lunch at Quizno's. YUM!

A Great Memorial Day with Family!

So, I am just going to start from this date forward. It will be to difficult to back track the last two and half years.....

Yesterday was Memorial Day. Hailey and Kelley started off their day by taking a nice morning walk before Mike woke up. After our walk, we came home and fixed Dad a nice breakfast: eggs, bacon, and his favorite biscuits. After breakfast, we went out in the yard and picked up the remaining sticks in our yard. (Papa, Mike's dad, cut down two dead trees in out backyard, while creates ALOT of sticks to pick up) After we picked up the sticks, Kelley mowed the backyard that was starting to grow out of control. Then it was lunch time, and Hailey took her nap.

When Hailey woke up from her nap, she apparently woke up on the wrong side of the bed, because she did not want her diaper changed and threw the worst tantrum yet. It was a full out two year old tantrum, screaming and flailing around on the floor. Anyway, after we FINALLY got that under control, we began to get ready for our family to come for a Memorial Day Grill Out. Except this year, it was a Grill IN because it was raining. JJ (Mike's mom), Uncle Chris (Mike's brother), MiMi (Kelley's mom), Grandaddy (Kelley's dad), and GiGi (Kelley's grandmother) all come over to have dinner with us. We had a great time. Hailey entertained us with singing and dancing while Mike and Uncle Chris were grilling, and Mike entertained us with his stories from work.

Beginning a blog....

Hello everyone! We have just decided to make a blog. Hopefully through this blog we will be able to update you on our lives by sharing stories and pictures. Alot has happened in the past several years.

First, Hailey was born January 3, 2006. It's hard to believe it was that long ago.

She is 2 1/2 now and is learning and growing everyday!

This past year Hailey attended preschool at Westminster Toddlers and Twos three days a week. She LOVED it. She made lots of freinds and came home talking about her freinds and what she did at school everyday. Hailey is finished with school for now, but will gp back in July for two days a week for three weeks.

Mike is busy busy! Besides being a husband and daddy, he is currently interning with Vanderbilt Football and working at Target full time as a "Target Protection Specialist". He is currently set to graduate in August with his Bachelors Degree in Recreation Administration. He will soon be looking for a new job.

Kelley is busy being a mom and wife. She is currently taking a summer course (although it will be completed at the end of this week) in Abnormal Psychology. After the completion of this class, she will be out of school for the summer and is looking forward to spending more time with Hailey. Kelley is set to graduate next August (August 2009) with a Bachelors degree in Speech Pathology. She will then proceed to graduate school to earn her Masters in Speech Pathology.
